It begins!

Thanks to everyone who made it out to the meet. Glad to see most of you, if briefly.

The tourney rules are complete, and the first round has been drawn! Nice mixture of armies.

Round 1 Matchups
Colin (Imperial Guard) vs Jeff (Tau)
Kris (Eldar) vs Jon (Space Marines)
Kyle (Orks) vs Orion (Space Marines)

More updates as the tourney progresses. I'll make sure that I post up pictures and battle reports of my engagements, as well as any other games I attend as an observer.

With permission of other tourney goers, I will likely post up other people's battle reports as well.

Personal Hobby
After being sick all week, I managed to basecoat my tank and do most of my shading before touch-ups and highlights. Still will likely take me most of the week to get through it, due to other obligations. I've finally gotten the hang of my airbrush and achieved a really smooth base-coat. I'm impressed with the results. I regret not considering how I wanted to approach vehicle painting from the get-go and each of my vehicles has a different scheme. When I have time I'll post up the differences. They are pretty minor and fit thematically to how I imagine I want my army to look.

Sick!

If you've been wondering where my delicious updates have been, I've been sick with the flu and swamped with school work. I'll post something soon, I promise.

Army update

Well, the tournament I'm running is only about 3 weeks away and my army is almost done. I've finalized my army list and am putting the finishing touches on my Kroot Carnivore squad. Based on past performance they should be worth the points. Once I finish up this last three I'll finish up the squad's bases and seal them with some matte varnish. Should be done by the end of the week imagine.

After that all that's left is finishing the base for my monat fireknife suit, and painting my Hammerhead. I've set aside next week to take care of that bad boy. The basecoat is quick, I use an airbrush to basecoat my tanks. After that I typically mix up a shade for the panel lines, and then I'll probably opt for some fine edge highlighting rather than drybrushing. Though drybrushing works well for more complex vehicles with rivets and such, the flat panels of tau vehicles don't lend well to drybrushing in my experience. Either way, each of my vehicles seems to turn out differently from the next, as my skill improves with vehicle painting. I'll have to post some pics to demonstrate my vehicle fleet sometime.

The nice thing is, that I really don't have a huge amount to paint for a 1000 or 1250 point list after I get this list finished. I have an extra crisis suit, stealth suit squad and a second devilfish already painted up that isn't in my current army list. It's not going to take much to expand, though I imagine by the 1250 mark I'd like to have at least one or two XV-88's to buff my heavy support.
